I recently wrote an article for Chameleon Kids and Military Kids’ Life about little-known college scholarships for military-connected kids. Through my research, I realized that military-connected kids are exactly what colleges are looking for in a student.
Most military kids have a unique story to tell, different from their civilian peers. High school students who attend DoDEA schools overseas tend to stand out among the stacks of applicants. It’s not very often that sixteen-year-old can take a calculus field study to Greece to study math in architecture, but as a military kid stationed in Europe, it’s kind of routine.
Colleges want kids like ours as their ideal students. Because they are from a military family, they are not afraid of change; they understand personal responsibility; they thrive during adversity; and they appreciate diversity. Colleges would be lucky to have our kids.
In the article, I found a few little-known scholarships that fit the mold of the military kid. Click here to find out more about these hidden scholarship gems!
I’ve also listed larger known scholarships given away by well-known organizations.
We only have a few more months until graduation, so good luck to those military parents out there who have managed this life and raising military kids into amazing soon-to-be adults!
Happy scholarship hunting!
